Newsletter – SimpleIndex 12 Is Coming – Including a Price Change
Early notice, no surprises
SimpleIndex 12 ships on September 10, 2026, and it is a substantial release – big enough that we are adjusting our pricing alongside it.
We would rather you heard that from us now than discovered it on an invoice later. So: here is what is coming, what it will cost, and what buying before September 10 gets you.
Three things worth knowing about v12
- AI that runs on your hardware (Professional). Version 12 brings large language models into the job itself. Choose a major provider and add your API key, or point SimpleIndex at a custom model – including one running locally. We’ve tested a local model on an 8 GB server, which means AI document analysis now works on an air-gapped network. Nothing leaves your building.
- Automated email sending. Jobs can now send email directly – processed files attached, recipients and content driven by your index data. Authentication is OAuth-based and the whole thing is configured in the job file. We built it for our SimpleCert add-on, then realized everyone processing documents that need to go somewhere afterward would want it.
- OMR processing powered with AI. Makes the set up of processing of OMR forms much easier and faster.
What the pricing looks like
One change, and it’s simple: from September 10, every new SimpleIndex license is sold with the first year of maintenance included.

If you were buying maintenance anyway – as most people do – very little changes. Standard stays at exactly $600. Professional goes from $1,620 to $1,800, an increase of $180, arriving with the largest feature release we’ve shipped in years.
If you were planning to buy a license on its own, that option goes away on September 10. Through September 9 you can still buy Professional at $1,350 or Standard at $500 with no maintenance attached.
We’re making this change because maintenance is how you get upgrades, and a customer running SimpleIndex without it ends up stuck on an old version, calling support that their agreement doesn’t cover. Bundling the first year means everyone starts out supported and gets v12 the moment it ships.
What doesn’t change is how any of this works. A SimpleIndex license is still perpetual – you buy it once and you own it. Every license you’ve already bought keeps running. Every maintenance term you’ve already paid for runs to its expiry date exactly as agreed. Upgrades work the way they always have: an active maintenance agreement gets you the new version at no charge. This is why people buy SimpleIndex instead of renting software, and we’re not giving that up.
Why buying before September 10 is worth it
The math is real:
- Buy Professional with maintenance at $1,620 instead of $1,800. Because maintenance covers upgrades, version 12 arrives at no extra cost when it ships. You get the new release at the old price.
- September 9 is the last day to license SimpleIndex without maintenance – $1,350 for Professional, $500 for Standard. After that, the bundle is the only way in.
- Need more than two weeks? Ask us for a quote before September 10 and we’ll hold that price for [30] days, so a purchase order clearing in October still gets today’s number.
- Every quote and agreement we’ve already issued will be honored. If you have a quote in hand, it stands.
If your maintenance has lapsed, read this part
Maintenance is how you get version 12. If yours has expired, reinstating it before v12 ships is the difference between the upgrade being included and it being a separate purchase.
