Standard and Professional are the two main edition options, both with a one-time license, no per-page fees, and support and updates included for the first year. The difference is how much of the indexing the software does for you, and in practice that comes down to which recognition engines are included. How you license either one is a separate choice: a single workstation, Concurrent for a team that shares, or an annual Subscription.

The edition decides how much of the indexing the software does for you, and the practical line is engine accuracy: Standard's included engines make documents searchable, while Professional's read values off the page reliably enough to index from. The add-on decides whether anyone has to be there when the job runs. They are independent, and plenty of sites buy one without the other. The badges on each card show which editions include which capability.

Professional activates the full suite - SimpleWorkflow, SimpleExport, SimpleCoversheet and SimpleView - with no separate serial numbers to manage. Each is still sold on its own, because plenty of sites want Standard plus one app and nothing more. The first year is included with every new Standard and Professional license. After that it renews at $100 a year for Standard and $300 for Professional. We email you ahead of the renewal date, so it reaches you as a reminder you can act on rather than an invoice you were not expecting.
Renewing is optional. What lapsing costs is the next version and covered support: version 12 reached every active agreement at no charge when it shipped, and version 13 will work the same way.
Workstation is a perpetual license tied to one machine. Concurrent lets a pool of users share a smaller number of floating licenses across shifts or desks. Subscription is the same software billed per year instead of once, with support and updates included for as long as it's active. All three activate the same edition - the difference is only how the license is paid for and shared.
They automate different halves of the job. Professional is about what the software reads: it pulls index values off the page instead of an operator typing them. Server is about whether anyone has to be there: SimpleIndex runs as a Windows service, watches a folder, and processes whatever lands in it with no one logged in. They are independent. A Standard license plus Server runs barcode jobs overnight with nobody present, and a Professional license without Server reads difficult documents with an operator at the keyboard. Server is an add-on to either edition rather than a tier above them, and it can be added to an existing installation whenever it becomes worth it.
It doesn't. Workstation and Concurrent licenses are perpetual, so the version you installed keeps running for as long as you have a Windows machine to run it on. Support and updates are the separate annual part (maintenance, on your invoice), and letting those lapse costs you new versions and covered support, not the software. Subscription licensing is the exception: it is billed annually rather than owned.
No. SimpleWorkflow, SimpleExport, SimpleCoversheet, and SimpleView are each still sold on their own, so a Standard install that only needs QuickBooks integration doesn't have to move up to Professional. Professional just activates all four automatically, with no separate serial numbers to track.
You will get a reminder, not an automatic charge. The first year of support and updates comes with the license. Ahead of the renewal date we email you about extending it: $100 a year for Standard, $300 for Professional. Renew and you stay current. Ignore it and nothing breaks, because your installed version keeps running.
Because zone OCR is only as good as the engine reading the zone. Standard includes Tesseract and SimpleOCR, which are accurate enough to make a document searchable and not accurate enough to trust with a value you are going to file by or post to a database. Professional adds ABBYY FineReader, AWS Textract and the LLM engines, and that is where zone OCR stops being a line on a list and starts being something you can build a job around. If you are indexing by barcode, Standard is the right answer and will stay the right answer. If you are reading printed text and it has to be right, buy Professional.
Standard and Professional are the two main options, and everything here is on the shelf at a published price. Concurrent and Subscription are the same two editions under a different commercial arrangement. The add-ons attach to either edition. None of it is a different product, and none of it is quote-only. Install on as many machines as you like and pay for the number running at the same time. It suits shift work, and sites where several people scan occasionally rather than one person scanning all day. Both editions are available this way.

Moving a version 10 or 11 license to version 12. If your support and updates agreement was active when v12 shipped, the upgrade was already included and you may already have it.
