Compression

From Simple Wiki

Set compression options in the File Output Settings tab of the Settings Wizard.

In SimpleIndex 9 or previous versions, this dialog is accessed via the Scan Menu.

Separate compression settings are available for Black & White and Color images.

Group 4 compression is recommended for Black & White since it has very wide support and very small file sizes without loss of quality.

JPEG7 is the default for Color images.

JPEG6 is available for compatibility with older document viewers that don't support JPEG7, such as the Imaging for Windows viewer that came with XP and older versions of Windows.

JPEG 2000 is supported for JPG, JP2 and PDF File Output types.

Set the Compression Quality to the desired value, with 1 being the smallest file size and lowest image quality, and 100 for the best quality with minimal file size reduction.

MRC compression can only be enabled when Full-Page OCR is used with the FineReader engine. Enable MRC on the OCR Options screen.
