OMR

OMR stands for Optical Mark Recognition and is how check boxes are recognized by SimpleIndex.

SimpleIndex OMR uses a simple zone and black pixel threshold to determine whether to consider the region "checked" or not. It also works best with black and white images or color images with a clean, white background.

The default value is 1 for "checked" and 0 for "not checked".

It is useful for doing a simple yes/no checkbox field, but not suitable for complex multi-selection fields and complex forms.

OMR can also be used for signature verification by drawing the zone around the signature area and setting the threshold so that any signature in the zone would trigger the "checked" value.

Another unique feature is OMR Document Separation. This lets you use a black marker to mark the corner on the first page on each document to trigger automatic document separation using an Autonumber field.

Set the Index Field Type to OMR in order to create a new OMR field.

The OMR Template setting is where the pixel threshold is set. When you use the Set Field Coordinates to set the zone it will calculate the number of pixels in the region for you.
